Sumario:This research is based on the assessment of potential hearing losses in Sound Engineers and Musicians by the inappropriate use of headphone with high levels and long periods of time at “Universidad de las Américas” in Quito, Ecuador. The work was to perform audiometric tests and surveys both Engineers and Musicians from the University to determine their medical history, and possible global hearing losses. The results of the audiograms and surveys were used to relate possible hearing loss with the misuse of headphones. Tests were conducted with the help of the audiometer Maico MF7 for audiometry by air conduction, for a total of 285 people. Thanks to A.M.A (American Medical Association) standards overall loss were obtained and the results between Engineers and Musicians were compared. The methodology used for the development of this research was experimental inductive as theory of hearing loss was identified and tests were conducted to determine if these losses exist. With data analysis we got an overall conclusion of the hearing loss in Sound Engineers and Musicians, resulting in some hearing loss with greater impact on Musicians.
