Sumario:This research project was carried out in ten farm of the Corotú precinct, parish La Guayas canton El Emplane, province of Guayas. The objective was to evaluate traditional agroforestry systems and their relationship with forest cover. Plant tours were made from the Corotú site to select the ten farms with agroforestry systems. Topographic survey of each farm, zoning of productive areas and forest census was carried out, recording data of the trees such as diameter, height, georeference of all the forest species found on the farms. For the analysis of diversity parameters such as: frequency, abundance, dominance and the Index of Ecological Importance and Value "IVI" were also used the Shannon, Simpson and Jaccard indexes. 524 individuals were identified with a total of four agroforestry systems found within 10 farms studied. Shared in 35 species, 33 genera, and 19 families the most abundant species was Cordia alliodora (Ruiz & Pav.) Oken, with the BORAGINACEAE family being the most abundant the Ecological Importance Value Index (IVI) was more representative for the species Ceiba pentandra (L.) Gaertn. With 77.57%; the Shannon index determined a mean diversity in SAF 1, SAF 2 and SAF 4, unlike SAF 3 that presented low diversity, within the Jaccard analysis was obtained 0.05% indicates that there is little similarity of species among the agroforestry systems found in the 10 farms of the Corotú site, in the El Empalme canton.
