Sumario: | Approximately during the last 28 years, after the return of democracy, Ecuador has been experiencing an era of economic, political, institutional and social crisis. The stay of irresponsible leaders in Carondelet caused a democracy breach, as well as specific cases of interrupted presidencies. By compiling quantitative and qualitative data from specific events in recent political history, we can observe the existence of a Long and Dark Neoliberal Era accompanied by the dynamics and attempted execution of different adjustment policies and economic austerity reforms that led personal interests of those who were in power during the studied years based on the Multilateral Financial Organizations recipes by the legacy of Washington Consensus Program for Latin American countries. |
