Descripción
Sumario:This research study is focused on analyzing the influence of the institutional system of compulsory voting in the electoral participation of Latin America and to establish causality between the variables: Dependent (electoral participation) and Independent (compulsory voting). The study is based on an analysis of the institutionalist theory with the phenomenon, observation of comparative studies and the analysis of empirical evidence based on a mixed method research, through the compilation of academic papers, previous investigations of the phenomenon, kind of vote and statistical percentages of the electoral participation of eighteen Latin American countries. What is proposed in this research is that the institutional framework of compulsory voting generates greater electoral participation in Latin America; analyzing the information gathered with the hypothesis and to establish a possible causality between the variables.
