description This paper presents an overview of the situation concerning the metalworking industry of Ecuador. The goal is to determine the factors that influence the industry for the purpose of optimization and increased exports to the countries of the Andean Community of Nations - CAN. The discovered factors will serve to standardize the production chain of the Ecuadorian metalworking industry for all industrial entrepreneurs. This is necessary for modernization and investment proposals to boost the export sector with sustainability expectations in the Bolivian, Peruvian and Colombian markets; countries of the Andean Community of Nations. We'll begin with an analysis of Ecuadorian economic sectors, the importance of the metalworking industry, including the influence of the industry on other industries activities, an analysis of the countries of the Andean Community of Nations with respect to Ecuador and other Latin American countries. To identify the factors, it's necessary to list the strategies which strengthen the industry, so that employers, with the support of both government and worker's unions, can identify new markets and increase sales in existing markets. The importance of analyzing the industry's export potential to the Andean Community market is one of the main points; meaning that a preliminary and impartial study will be conducted to the markets of the member countries, such as Bolivia, Colombia and Peru, without overlooking other foreign competitors, which even though they aren't the main focus of this paper, however will require an extensive analysis, specially the ones that export to the Andean Community of Nations. The proposed strategies will be based upon the information provided by the business sector and will demonstrate the current need, the methods of management and the decisions they make. The next phase will be the implementation and monitoring of the proposed strategies of this study.

El presente trabajo enuncia una visión de la situación del sector metalmecánico en el Ecuador, el objetivo es la determinación de factores que influyen en el sector para la optimización e incremento de exportaciones a los países de la Comunidad Andina de Naciones-CAN. Los factores encontrados servirán para estandarizar la cadena productiva del sector metalmecánico ecuatoriano a todos los empresarios industriales, necesaria para su tecnificación y propuestas de inversión que impulsen al sector a exportar con expectativas de sostenibilidad a los mercados de Bolivia, Perú y Colombia, países de la Comunidad Andina de Naciones. Se iniciará con analizar los sectores de la economía ecuatoriana, la importancia del sector metalmecánico entre ellos, la influencia que tiene el sector en los demás sectores para su actividad, analizando los países de la Comunidad Andina de Naciones con respecto al Ecuador y a otros países latinoamericanos. Al identificar los factores es necesario pronunciar estrategias que fortalezcan el sector a nivel que los empresarios ecuatorianos, con apoyo del gobierno y otras instituciones gremiales, identifiquen nuevos mercados o incremente ventas en los mercados ya existentes, la importancia de analizar el potencial exportador del sector hacia el mercado de la Comunidad Andina de Naciones es uno de los principales puntos, significando que se realizará un estudio imparcial e inicial de los mercados que se encuentran como miembros, ellos son Bolivia, Colombia y Perú, sin dejar de analizar holgadamente a los competidores extranjeros, al no ser el punto esencial del presente trabajo, enfocando a los que exportan también a los países de la Comunidad Andina de Naciones.
