The objectives were the following ones: 1. to identify the pro-blemas caused by the wrong plaguicide use. 2. to carry out the day-Gnostic of the plaguicida type that but the farmers of short cycle use in the Canton Sands. Once certain the properties of the canton Sands, you proceeded to carry out surveys to the farmers applying scientific methods, to establish the problems generated by the wrong use of the plaguicide and the impact that it causes to the environment. Giving as a result that 79,5% of the farmers uses plaguicide and 20,5% doesn't use. 85,0% of the farming perma-necen inside their plantations after the application of agroquí-monkeys. 60,1% applies the agroquímicos in the morning, 17,5% in the afternoon and 22,4% the whole day. Alone 32,5% uses pro-tección teams to apply agroquímicos. 65,9% burns the containers go-cíos of these products, 27,7% the boot, and 12,4% buries them. The spare product 97,5% of the farmers the guard and the reutili-za. Alone 33,4% affirmed that he/she receives technical advice. All the farmers use insecticide organofosforados, fungicides with the help of copper and sulfur, and to counteract the weeds glyfosatos. El presente trabajo de investigación consistió en realizar el diagnóstico de los plaguicidas en pequeñas fincas del Cantón Arenillas, Provincia de El Oro. Los objetivos fueron los siguientes: 1. Identificar los pro-blemas causados por el mal uso de plaguicidas. 2. Realizar el diag-nóstico del tipo de plaguicida que mas utilizan los agricultores de ciclo corto en el Cantón Arenillas. Una vez determinadas las fincas del can-tón Arenillas, se procedió a realizar encuestas a los agricultores apli-cando métodos científicos, para establecer los problemas generados por el mal uso de los plaguicidas y el impacto que causa al entorno. Dando como resultado que el 79,5 % de los agricultores utilizan plaguicidas y el 20,5 % no utilizan. El 85,0 % de los agricultores permanecen dentro de sus plantaciones después de la aplicación de agroquímicos. El 60,1 % aplica los agroquímicos en la mañana, el 17,5 % en la tarde y el 22,4 % todo el día. Solo el 32,5 % utiliza equipos de protección para aplicar agroquímicos. El 65,9 % queman los envases vacíos de estos productos, el 27,7 % los bota, y el 12,4 % los entierra. El producto sobrante el 97,5 % de los agricultores los guarda y lo reutiliza. Solo el 33,4 % afirmó que recibe asesoramiento técnico.
