Sumario:Nowadays, the teachers must choose useful resources that could help developing an important skill as it is writing, through the use of literary illustrations that could simplify the achievement of a short story type like fairy tales. This way the research had the following objective: determine how the application of illustrations can help the production of short stories in the students, taking advantage of their characteristics and function for which they have been created. In accordance with the objectives proposed, the illustrations used to achieve a story, are those that have a close connection with the narrative and are loaded with striking stylistic aspects and also are interest and creativity generators, therefore they were determined through planned activities. The research had a qualitative, non-experimental and descriptive approach, on a total population of twenty-four students, from which was not taken any type of sample. A survey and an evaluation rubric were used to collect data; from the results we concluded that the literary illustrations allowed to obtain a short story of acceptable creative and structure characteristics; for that reason, it is recommended that activities and illustrations be chosen in order to help developing creative writing, to correct the students spelling errors and coherence.
