This research was carried out at the Contreras farm, a company located in the canton Pueblo viejo of the province of Los Ríos which has 30 hectares, and its main activity is banana production. Such production is sold internally since the company is not an exporter, so it needs intermediaries for the sale of its product. For the year 2016 the hacienda has experienced a decrease in its usefulness compared to the year 2015, reasons for which the present case study was developed which has been denominated: Profitability of the banana company hacienda Contreras S.A. The profitability that an entrepreneur hopes to obtain is the motivation in itself, by which the production activities are exercised. Knowing the margins of profitability is indispensable for decision making. Las empresas bananeras representan la mayor fuerza de fuentes de trabajo en la provincia de los ríos. En la actualidad las haciendas bananeras enfrentan una serie de problemáticas que han estado afectando su economía, las afectaciones de plagas a sus producciones, los factores climas, la informalidad en el mercado interno del banano provoca que los precios oficiales difícilmente se respeten. La presente investigación fue realizada en la hacienda Contreras, una empresa ubicada en el cantón Pueblo viejo de la provincia de Los Ríos que cuenta con 30 hectáreas, y su actividad principal es la producción de banano. Tal producción es vendida internamente ya que la empresa no es una exportadora, por lo cual necesita de intermediarios para la venta de su producto. Para el año 2016 la hacienda ha experimentado una disminución en su utilidad en comparación con el año 2015, razones por la cual se desarrollado el presente estudio de caso el cual se ha denominado: Rentabilidad de la empresa bananera hacienda Contreras S.A.
