After analyze the two dominant theories and its greatest exponents, develops a contribution to the theory maximalist. This contribution by focusing on our western reality XXI century, this theory is based on four pillars: Elections (free, equal, universal, regular and limited mandates), freedoms in a democratic system, and separation of powers party system, these conditions being the minimum order appoints a democracy regime finally develops a discussion of why maximalist democracy is better than a minimalist. El siguiente trabajo se enfoca en teoría de la democracia, esto por las nuevas discusiones en ciencia política, por los nuevos regímenes en América Latina, donde se ha discutido mucho sobre su verdadera inclinación como un sistema de gobierno y como se los debe catalogar. Para lo cual mostraremos las dos vertientes principales: por una parte la democracia minimalista y, la otra una democracia maximalista, con más condiciones que la nombrada anteriormente. Luego de analizar las dos teorías dominantes y sus mayores exponentes se desarrolla una contribución a la teoría maximalista. Dicha contribución enfocándose en nuestra realidad occidental del siglo XXI; esta teoría se basa en cuatro pilares fundamentales: elecciones (libres, iguales, universales, periódicas y con mandatos limitados).
