The methodology used is identified with the qualitative paradigm and emphasizes the review and analysis of the work of different authors and previous research. As a result of the study carried out, it is concluded that progress, from the perspective of the Andean cosmovision, is not correlated with material heritage, as in the current globalized system. In addition, the conception of the Andean worldview and interculturality do not correspond to a stage of underdevelopment, but rather constitute a need to recover collective values, both in the classroom and in society, which strongly disagrees with the neoliberal ideology currently in force. En el presente trabajo se plantea como objetivo analizar cómo la cosmovisión andina y la interculturalidad constituyen una fuente y alternativa para promover el desarrollo sostenible desde el Sumak Kawsay en el contexto ecuatoriano actual, así también cómo interviene en la visión del mundo y su correlación con todos los factores de la naturaleza, incluido el ser humano, lo que representa una evolución social en constante reconstrucción y renovación, donde predomina la representación igualitaria, mutua y una firme relación de los seres humanos entre sí, como parte del ecosistema vivo y con el ámbito natural. La metodología empleada se identifica con el paradigma cualitativo y enfatiza en la revisión y análisis de la obra de diferentes autores e investigaciones precedentes. Como consecuencia del estudio efectuado se concluye que el progreso, desde la perspectiva de la cosmovisión andina, no está correlacionado con el patrimonio material, como sucede en el sistema globalizado actual. Además, la concepción de la cosmovisión andina y la interculturalidad no corresponden a una etapa de subdesarrollo, sino más bien constituyen una necesidad para recuperar los valores colectivos, tanto en el aula de clases como en la sociedad, lo que discrepa fuertemente con la ideología neoliberal vigente en la actualidad.
